Ooooohh, I couldn't resist this. There's only about a half dozen of
us on this floor at work today and one of my coworkers just happens to
keep a stopwatch in his desk. I had to go to the back anyway sooo....
Did a small burnout although with the sh*$ty Goodyears it probably
didn't do much. I had my cube-mate do the timing. He waited until I
dumped the clutch to start the timing and *he* watched the speedo so I
could concentrate on just bangin' gears. Clocked three back-to-back
8.75 0-60's on the stock 215 tires. The FIPK clone is the only mod so
far. I wasn't real happy with this but if you factor in that it won't
launch worth a damn on the skinny tires, I got BAAAAD wheelspin in
second, and real solid 'bark' shiftin' into third, I can guarantee
easy sub 8's with some decent tires and traction bars. My '97 is a
2WD, Reg. cab, 318, 5spd, 3.55SG. No pw, pl, fog lights, slider
window, or anything to add weight except for the 22 gal. fuel cell.
Too bad I just filled up the night before last or the times could have
been a tick better.
Anybody else able to pull better numbers from their '97?
So long as it doesn't rain the whole weekend the muffler is coming
off. I'll be curious to see if that makes a big enough difference.
I'm actually hopin' it will take some of the low end out so it will
hook a little better.
You guys runnin' MSD boxes or the Crane units.....exactly *how*
noticeable was it on the your Dak. I'm lookin' to blow some dough
this weekend and I'm teetering between some bigger rubber for the back
or a CD ignition. TIA

That 0-60 time has me wondering. I stopwatched mine at 8.2 and thought
that was a little slow (stock except for the computer). I've heard that
the 97's are a little heavier and therefore slower. Does anyone know
for sure? What gear ration are you running? How 'bout some of you 5.2
'97 guys do a few 0-60 runs and let us know how their doing. I think
all of the pre '97 guys would like to know, so when a '97 pulls up
beside us at a stop light we can, um you know...
