Well, I took a trip home last weekend and I am happy to say that after
putting 1400 miles on it, it is doing much better on gas.
Going down: (For those who care, Houghton Mi ---> St. Ignas Mi (about 250
miles)) 60mph (on cruise) Tailgate down, pretty windy, pretty cold,
somewhat hilly...........19.8 mpg (Engine was at 1870RPM)
Going up: (Again for those who care, Rochester Hills Mi ---> St. Ignas Mi
(about 280 miles)) 72mph (mostly on cruise) Tailgate up, hauling some big
empty boxes (31" TV box, a pair of large speaker boxes), pretty windy,
pretty cold, a little less hilly.........16mpg (Engine was at 2150RPM)
I was getting about 13mpg on the highway with the tailgate down when I
first got the truck (55 miles on the odometer).
I've got a '97 Sport, Club-cab, 5.2L V-8, 3.55 gears, 4-spd automatic.
