yeah, it won't work otherwise. The Mopar shop manual explicitly states you MUST add friction modifier for that "sure grip" feeling. It also specifies driving the vehicle in a figure-8 pattern to mix the modifier with the gear oil before returning it to the customer. I don't know what your dealer mechanic was talking about --> he's probably never read the shop manual!

Hey folks;
One of my posts to Rob reminded me that when my Dealer changed out my
broken rearend, the mechanic told me that he added a bottle of friction
modifier to the oil when he put it back in. He indicated that CC does not
necessarily recommend this, but it did seem to make a big difference on how
well it bites. FYI
