there is a guy who lives down the block from me who has a rustang 5.slow.
except his isn't slow at all. he runs 10's with it. he does a lot of
articles for "mustangs and fast fords" magazine. i was talking to him the
other day and he said to go with stock plugs. he also said that champion r
the worst thing in the world. he uses motorcraft. he says that the platinum
plugs like bosch aren't good cuz they skimp on metal. the electrode is so
small that if you get a timy speck of carbon on it, they foul out. he made
3 runs with new bosch platinums and they were fowled. its probably because
he keeps the engine extremely cold with ice packs and when he is waiting on
like at the track, he moves up and shuts the engine off.the plugs probably
don't get a chance to clean themselves.anyway, he has a point, there isn't
as much platinum as copper and steel that is in a regular plug. the
splitfires have a large electrode and therefor hold a lot of heat so they
cause preignitoin. he didn't know that stock DAK plugs were champion
though.
