Actually, the limited slip in the rear is a very good thing. Even better would be a locking diff, but those don't do as well on pavement. If you ever get off road and one of your rear wheels gets up in the air or loses traction, all you have is one front wheel pulling.

With open differentials at the front and rear and a locking T-case, you can't send power to more than two wheels if you're on a slick surface. Put a locker in the rear and you get three wheels. But either is better than the one wheel you get with an open diff on the 4x2s. From what I've read, 4x2 trucks with good tires and locking differentials do just about as well as stock 4x4 trucks with open diffs.

Traction is everything when you're off road. Well, that and ground clearance.

Of course, I might just be trying to justify my own desire to buy more toys for my Dakota :-).
