I took my Dakota to 75-80 Dragway's "Mopar Super Sunday" today and made a
few runs in it. It's a 1996, Short Bed, Regular Cab w/ 318, 5-speed and
3.90 sure-grip rear. Only mod is cat-back duals with 1 flowmaster muffler.

Comments: Let the truck cool about an hour. Let a small amount of air out
of the rear tires. Launched easy but still had a good deal of wheelspin,
shifted at 5200 rpm. Beat Turbo Lebaron convertible who ran 16.7.
The truck really sounds good with the air cleaner removed! I need to get a
FIPK for it. I plan to get at least the SBEC and probably the headers too
in the future. I talked to a guy whom I met last year racing his '94
equipped just like mine, and he had BIG tires on the rear and was running
14.5s. He told me now that he's added the SBEC his best run is 14.11 (!).
I think to get a 5-speed Dak into the 14's the tires are probably the most
important thing.
