Hey Bill:

You said in your post you considered a 727 trans. It is true that they
will bolt to a Dak, but I wouldn't recommend it. You will probably loose
anywhere from 2 - 4 tenths on E.T. if not more. If I were you I would just
get a 904 and build it (same thing as a 518, but without OD). Not trying
to tell you what to do, but I have seen many cases as this happening. A
friend of ours who has a dart built the car with a 727 in it and got it
down into the 11's. Next thing he did was build a 904, bolted it up and
picked up 4 tenths, hard to believe, but TRUE. The 727 are just built
tough as a rock, but a little slower. My dad has a 727 in his truck and
found an adapter kit to make a 904 bolt to a big block, but to do that you
are looking around 800 - 900 dollars to you buy the kit, and get another
tranny done.

Just my $.02

Scott
