I don't think there is anyway to tell the different varieties of the
A904, externally. Look for one hooked to a 360. If there is any
doubt that the 360 and trans are original Email me private and I can
explain how to verify it. All 318's are internally balanced so you
don't have to worry about any funky balance weights. Just verify that
the flex plate will bolt to the TC of your choice, that the TC is the
correct one, ie 904 or 727, and lock up or non lock up TC. I'm not
sure what you mean about the lockup converter changing things on a
     318. The lock up part is dependant on the trans and not the engine.
Other than increasing fuel mileage a touch having a lock up TC isn't a
problem and MP has higher stall ones available.

     Thunderstruck...

In a message dated 97-08-29 01:13:52 EDT, you write:

<< Ok, the A904 in that 67 Dart was a light duty version. The A999 came
behind the 360 and is beefed up. It has more clutches, which were the
weak point of the older versions. My Diplomat, with an A998 >>

How do you tell these things apart from one anohter ? If I looked for a 9**
from a 360 it would be the best bet ?

Thanks again, I'm learning, Oh what about torque converters ? any tricks on
matching a torqu converter up to a 727 or 9** series on the 318 magnum ? Can
I just get a which ever torqu converter and a 727 or 9** and bolt it up ? I'm
sure the 518 converter is different. Also waht about the lockup Converters
ect changing things on the 318 magnum ?

Thanks
Bill
