I agree completely that if someone wants your truck/car specifically,
they're gonna get it! I think that most of the time though, thieves come in
the form of joyriders and opportunists meaning that they'll take the
easiest cars to get away with quickly. Where I disagree somewhat is your
bashing of "The Club". Yes, you're right a pro thief can simply hack
through the steering wheel, but how many joyriders or people needing a
quick getaway carry a hacksaw on them? Also if you install a club-type
device on your car with the steering wheel cranked hard to the left or
right its a lot tougher to tow away, especially if youre parked straight
in. (not impossible mind you, justa a lot more difficult). If you do use a
club type device, another trick is to install it with the lock facing the
windshield in either the top and bottom opening of the steering wheel, this
will mean you cant install it diagonally across the wheel to protect your
airbag but will render it virtually impervious to lock-picking tools.

I have no relation with the company who makes The Club of any other device,
I simply used them when I lived in the very high crime town of San Diego,
Ca. At least half of the people I knew down there had been the victims of
car theft at one time or another (that will make you paranoid about car
theft!) but they never got me. Was I lucky ? Yes but no one can keep
statistics on how many times a thief passed up your truck for an easier
target.
