Went to the 1/8th mile track at Kennedale, TX today for another
Musclecar Club Challenge. I tried some Hoosier Quick Times a friend gave
me and I have the following to report. Once cleaned off and heated, the
tires stuck like glue. Wheel hop was gone and 3000rpm launches are now
possible(though stressful on the drivetrain). The best 60ft today was
2.13 with 2teens being quite common. I'm sure the 30" height of these
tires is a detriment to my Ets and 60ft possibilities, but I don't have
to worry about the tires breaking loose(anyway, the tires were basically
free, though almost worn out). Best official 1/8th mile ET was 9.56
today(best ever is 9.47), but several runs during eliminations would
have been quicker(let off because I cut the other guys head off at the
tree ;-) ) Anyway, I got runner up in the Street Muscle class after a
fellow Mopar Club member made me pay for my caution in the final round.
BTW several friends said I ran in the 9.30s range on the last pass, but
I never got my timeslip(timeslip chick disappeared after the last race).
On a sadder note, fellow listmember Karl Moltzan's rear end broke at the
track and he had to have his truck towed home (ouch $$$) Fellow Dallas
Mopar Clubmember Norma Boedecker won the Factory muscle class and she's
in the hunt to win the whole enchilada for the year. Go Norma! Take care
all.
