wern't made to cool off the engine compartment, it was for the carburator
having the ability to get enough air, you remember the small to mid sized
cars from the late 60's early 70's that had BIGGGG engines. the biggest
drawback that the designers hadn't thought of was that a lot of these cowl
inducted vehicles went to where it was real cold and the owners learned
real quick that they had to disconnect the induction during the winter
because the cold would freeze up the carb.
