Is the overdrive ratio the same in all the Dakota V8 automatic transmissions?
Would be nice if the factory gave a higher ratio for the the O/D they put in
the trans with a 3.90 gear as opposed to a lower one with the 3.55. Once the
trans went into O/D, the gas mileage would improve although useable power
would fall off. Anyone with a shop manual or other information?

I don't know about the 4:10 gears, I have the 3.90 and on juice am running
close to 6000 rpm at the end of 1/4 with the OD locked out. They say the OD
unit is the vulnerable part of the tranny and I don't want to have to use it
but with 4:10 gears I'm sure you would have to or even with the MP computter
you would hit the rev limiter. I was told 4:10 would increase rpm by about
800 ? I'm not interested in turning many more rpm but maybe a little more
power on the way up there whcich I hope would cut my time maybe even lower
MPH a little but not get the revs up 6000.
