My 4X4 Dak came from the dealer with a wicked vibration from the rear
whenever the brakes were applied over 20 or-so MPH. I drove it for a week
or so to see if it would go away but eventually had to take it in to have
it checked. The story the dealer told was that the rear rotors were
out-of-round and that they just milled them down to in-round status. If
thats really what they did or not I don't know but whatever happened the
problem went away completely and has never re-occurred ( now at 15,000mi ).
I thought later though, that since the truck was brand new and I was really
entitled to a perfectly functioning vehicle, that I should have insisted on
new drums since their re surfacing of those brake drums shortened their
life. Sometime down the road, way after warranty, I'll have to replace
those drums when they should actually have more life left. Just something
to think about.
