I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO BE ABLE TO ORDER A DAKOTA R/T FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND IT
SEEMS LIKE AVAILABILITY IS GETTING FARTHER AND FARTHER AWAY. I AM WANTING A
PERFORMANCE TRUCK THAT WILL ALSO BE A FIT DAILY DRIVER AND DURABLE. I HAD A 89
SHELBY DAK WHICH WAS GREAT LOOKING, DURABLE, BUT NOT VERY FAST. (PRE MAGNUM
5.2). I SOND IT AND BOUGHT A SYCLONE, WHICH WAS FAST, (THOUGH NOT AS FAST AS
CLAIMED - 0-60 ABOUT 5.6 SEC ON MINE. IT WAS ALSO UNABLE TO HAUL OVER 500 LBS,
OR PULL ANY TRAILER. (DOING SO WOULD VOID THE WARRANTY.) SO, I AM READY TO GO
BACK TO A REAL TRUCK, BUT I HAVE SOME PERFORMANCE QUESTIONS FOR THE NICE PEOPLE
ON THIS LIST.
1. WHAT IS THE BEST PERFORMING DAK WITH 5.2L AND WHAT MODIFICATIONS WERE NEEDED
TO GET BEST PERFORMANCE FROM IT.
2. IF I CANT GAT A DAK WITH 5.9, WOULD I BE BETTER TO GET A RAM WITH 5.9L OR
WOULD THE GREATER WEIGHT OF THE LARGER TRUCK OFFSET TNE GREATER HP AND TORQUE OF
THE 5.9 L ENGINE.
PLEASE BEAR IN MIND I AM NOT INTERESTED IN TOP SPEED OR EVEN 1/4 MILE TIMES.
MOSTLY 0-60.
ALSO WONDER ABOUT TIRE/WHEEL SIZES. TOO LARGE DIA. TIRES ARE LIKE HAVING TOO
TALL DIF GEARS. WOULD A SUPERCHARGER BE RECOMMENDED? I AM AFRAID OF NITROUS,
DONT THINK IT IS GOOD FOR ENGINE EITHER. I AM ALSO INTERESTED IN A BED COVER
LIKE THE FOLDING STYLE IN THE MP ACCESSORY CATALOG. ANYONE KNOW IF ONE CAN BE
HAD CHEEPER? PLEASE ADVISE ME WHAT TO DO, AND I HOPE I AM WRITING THIS
