Your engine is nowhere near broken in. There is little point in checking
mileage until it is. On my Dakota, there was a vast improvement at about 3000
miles. It was like someone flipped a switch. The same goes for the last engine
I rebuilt from the ground up. A Chrysler 400 (406 now). It also showed a great
improvement in mileage.
Give your engine a couple of thousand miles more break in before you can
expect to see good mileage figures.
