If you look close, you will see a clutch set-up on the right hand side, ring
gear side. if that weren't there then you would have an open rear end, and
the four smaller gears inside the unit are actuall able to " walk " around the
the axle with traction and transfer all power to the opposite side, and thus
that wheel is spinning at twice the speedometer reading. With the clutch
inside, when the gears start to " walk " the clutch engages and prevents this
from hapening. That is why you need a special lubricant in the diff after you
change the lube, to lube the clutch to prevent from hearing that clunk noise
so you turn cornors!
