Steering Column and Wind Noise

Hi. I have a couple of questions. I have a 97 Club Cab v8 4x4 with a
little over 5,000 miles. I love my truck, but there are two things that
are making me crazy...especially after spending so much $$$$!
1. There is a "gravely" noise/feeling in the stearing column. I first
noticed it when I had to hit the breaks to avoid hitting someone that
stopped short. I assumed it was some sort of air-bag thing. I took it in
to the dealer who first told me I was just feeling "the tires on the
road." (I forgot to say that I am a woman therefore, stupid.) After I
argued with them a little bit the shop foreman looked at it--so I was
told--and said there was something wrong. Turned out there was a spring
in there that had something to do with the air bag (duh) that was
sprung. So they replaced it. It was ok for a few weeks. Now it has
started back up. It is very slight and I don't have a sense that it is
interferring with anything. (Except the air bag--I guess my family can
sue when I am killed because it malfunctions :) ) Is/has anyone else had
this problem?
2. The wind on the drivers side window seems awfully loud to me.
Also
had this in the shop. For about 3 weeks. They reset the door and the
door window, and took out the front windshild and resealed that, but to
no avail. After driving a rental car for 3 weeks I just decided to live
with it. Is this normal or am I just being too picky? Recently I've
started wondering about those rain deflector things, or whatever they
are, that wrap around the door windows. Anyone think this would
help/hinder? What might it do to my gas mileage?

Bruce--don't be so hard on the big purple dinosaur. Believe me, I know
he is annoying, but I work for the costume shop that makes him and his
dino friends and they are making my truck payments!!!

Thanks
Robin
