My one and only trip to the 1/8 mile strip (most strips in WV are 1/8
mile) was in summer of '94, my truck was new, only 4,000 miles, dead
stock, tires and all.Very hot day, in the 90's. With 3.55 and an open
rear (yeah, I installed a "sure grip" last fall) I ran a 10.18. A nice
guy with a late 80's-early 90's Mustang GT, with a few "bolt on" mods
(never had the engine apart) was running 9.08's---with slicks! He told
me that the slicks were worth .5 seconds for him. I figure that with my
set up now, MP computer, March pulleys, K&N filter, and Sure-grip, plus
wider and grippier tires, plus soon to have cat back exhaust, should
put me in the low to mid nines. I'll let you know for sure as soon as
they start running. (Weather here- calling for snow Monday!)
Bill
