when I accelerate or make slow speed corners. I also seem to see a
little feathering on the outside of the front tires. At 250 miles
it is a bit hard to tell if the wear is funny or not.
I want to head this off at the pass before I eat tires. The one
thing I will do myself it grease the whole front end to see if
they left a dry joint. Any help from the list would be appreciated.
Has anyone else had this "light clunk"?
The 2WD front end problems I have read about have resulted in rapid
tire wear. Have there been any other symptoms?
Has anyone fixed it and what was the fix?

Hey,Joe.
I got a 92 CC, 318, and have the same noise (excactly as you describe it). I
too am at a loss to solve it. Let me give you a bit of history - about two
years ago, I replaced the rack and pinion, it blew out a seal. After this I
had it aligned, and the guy F**k'd it up. I didn't pay him and left. Turned
out he had left the rear bolt on the driver's side upper control arm loose.
It made a hell of a pop when it would move around during turning. Right after
that, I had the tires replaced, and re-aligned. It took the guy four hours
(while I'm waitin) to align it. After that I had some unusual tire wear
(feathering the outside edge) and the light clunk. I had the tires rotated at
about 6000 miles, and have had no unusual tire wear since (15,000)?? I can't
reproduce the knock in my driveway, but it bothers me (reminds me of that
loose upper control arm). I am thinking of doing the shock absorbers, and see
if that helps (its cheap, and I need to do it anyway). Let me know if you
find a solution.
Good Luck!
