Welcome to the DML List, Martin.

I did some research on the '98 R/T problem last week for a
couple of people on the List.

This is what I found out:

Production of the R/T at Dodge City (Warren, Michigan) was launched
about the 1st of March. Last week the production was to reach about
49 units per day. I do not know if that figure was actually attained.

There is quite a waiting list for the R/T; both customers and dealers.

The slow startup is due to the availability of the 5.9L engine. They are
in short supply. As you probably know, the 5.9L also goes to the Jeep GC
and the Dodge Ram truck and now to Newark,Deleware for the Durango.
Since the projected production of the Dakota R/T is the lowest, it is last
on the list.

You should be able to order very soon. I know some Dealers have already
taken orders (although I don't know about California Dealers).

Hope this helps a little....
