Are you referring to gear noise coming from the manual trans?

My 98 Dak has 2500 miles on it, and I have always noticed pretty
significant gear whine from the trans since I picked up the truck. Very
prominent in 1st, and lessens as you get to progressively higher gears.
There's still a faint whine in 5th while cruising on the highway. All
gears noises are significantly more pronounced when I get on it - of
course now that I have the FIPK, the drone from the air intake helps to
drown out the gear noise. ;}

I was told by others on the list that these sounds are pretty normal for
the 5.2L with the NVG3500 trans. Of course, you may be talking about a
completely different noise...
