My truck would barely squeal tires from a dead stop with no power
braking. After the Open K&N install. It would smoke! After the
flowmaster it would smoke till I let up.....into second gear with an
automatic. Then I added SG which gave back the traction. Believe me,
     It worked. Joe Borg

The air filter is certianly more noisy, but are you confusing the increased
sound with performance? If you had a SLT which comes with a hood pad, thus
you can really hear the increased noise would it still be faster?
