dakota upgrade

hello my name is gery and i just purchased a 1991 dakota4x4. it has a
3.9 litre and 5-spd with a 3.90 in the rear. i would like to how hard it
would be to put in a v-8 or should i just modify the v6. if i modify the
v6 what companies make performance parts.
    Any help would be great !!!!!!!!
