Horn Problems

I investigated this problem on my early 97 about 18 months ago. It
looks as if the stock orginal is a single note horn. But have you also
looked at the size of the wire going to the horn?

An engineered solution would be to use the existing horn wire to
activate a high amperage relay to feed maximum voltage (and high
current) to the horn. But a dual note setup is also needed. Havn't
done it yet, but it looks like there is sufficient room where the
exisiting horn is mounted for a slimline dual note. I think I saw one
in JC Whitney that would use the original mounting bracket, or either
had the same style bracket (would use existing mounting screw and hole
in chassis). Adapt the original horn wire to the relay and feed 12
volts directly to the relay from a spare source in the fuse panel. In
case you haven't figured it out, my idea is not original, this is the
way high current driving lights are wired. It doesn't matter if the
stock horn circuit already has a relay in it - but I don't think it
does.
