[For true Dak content, see the last paragraph]

My sarcasm was provided for the benefit of one person, and it wasn't you.
Indeed, my goal IS to enhance the help we all get from this forum. And the
comment that follows is not a before the fact statement: In the time period I
have participated in the DML, I have seen the list deteriorate into something I
think most do not appreciate, nor want (the number of recent "unsubscribes"
might attest to this). Reading the DML is a major investment of time, and rare
are those posts containing the help to which you refer.

To help achieve the stated goal I offered a simple observation that was not
directed to anyone. Furthermore, I would not say anything here I am not
prepared to say face to face to any intended recipient. However, I did not
cast dispersion towards anyone specifically in any response, but you did.
"..smug, superior attitude..," really? Do you have the credentials to make
such an observation? I don't think even a third-rate psychologist would
venture that analysis based solely on my post. Or, did I misunderstand - maybe
"..smug, superior attitude.." is the modern day jargon for having an informed
opinion? Believe me, I own my opinions as nothing more than just that, and
none of us need be made to feel hesitant to share them - even with those who
think their opinion is fact. But thank you, your response helps illustrate the
central point about responses that serve little more than to insult the
intelligence of the addressee. Perhaps you should read my post again.

And now, a possible reward for those who lasted long enough to endure this. I
have engineered an "air raid" type clone for installation on my 97 Dakota.
However, it should be adaptable to any vehicle that has a similar bonnet
design. It uses the stock bonnet, and other hardware I found at the local Home
Depot. Be advised however, performance improvements are unspecified and
totally unqualified. I have no means, nor interest for that matter, in making
any kind of scientific measurements - I will leave that to someone else.
Experiment and draw your own conclusions. The hardware cost less than $20, and
add to that the cost of a conical K&N filter. This is a durable design that
looks production quality when installed and is a viable alternative to the
other options - simply another choice. I am now working on a mold for a cold
air box to feed the K&N. The idea came from a design recently advertised for
the Jeep. This is not going on the DML, so if interested in details email
direct to my personal address. Use the subject "more air" and tell me about
your truck in terms of what you have done to it, and are planning to do. And,
if you have a 97+ Dakota I would also like to hear about any mechanical
problems you have had.
