I wouldn't be too hasty if a leaking radiator is all that happens to your
truck. The new style radiators used in ALL makes of cars and trucks use
an aluminum core and plastic tanks crimped together by aluminum tabs that
are not very strong. I work for a company that has been repairing and
replacing auto radiators since 1943. We get new replacement plastic tank
radiators that leak right out of the box. The days of copper and brass
radiators that could be soldered whenever they leaked is gone.
(Actually you can buy soldered tank replacements for some veichles.)
Insist on a new replacement radiator since the truck is new. Just
replacing the rubber gasket and re crimping the tank may not be as good as
a new radiator. You can only re crimp the aluminum tabs a couple of times
and they begin breaking off.
