  The Dakota front bed seems to be awfully weak. Many of us have unfortunately
found this out the hard way (mine was a half keg [15.5 US gal] of beer that
broke loose from it's moorings).

  But the 'good' news is that you can bend it back by hand pretty easily. I've
done this on mine, as well as two coworkers' Dakotas.

  The plastic drop-in liner will NOT prevent you from buckling your front
bed; it doesn't provide that kind of structural support. The plastic liner
WILL prevent small dents caused by small concentrations of force.

  I think a couple of people who actually use their trucks have built frames
of wood and metal to help reinforce the front bed. I'll have to try that one
of these days.
