     I was thinkin' more along the lines of knowin' how to contact New
Venture Gear or a release engineer for the Dakota drivetrain.

     I can't believe it's plastic. The Hurst shifter is a complete
replacement (if it fits). Aluminum base and a bolt-on chrome shifter
handle. Mr. Gasket has a website at http://www.mrgasket.com . I've got a
picture of the shifter I printed off the Hurst part of the page but don't
have a access to a scanner here at work. You might be able to see if the
mounting base at least looks the same. The p/n for the shifter that fits
the newest Chevy trucks is (I think) 0121. There's a Jeg's p/n
530-391-0120 shown in their catalog that looks to be the same pic as I
have.
