I've got a '98 4x4 which I bought with the 235 Wrangler's on it. It didn't
take me long to realize that I should have sprung for the Wheel and Tire
Package, the 31" tires just look so much better.
So last week I went to Town Fair Tire (a huge discount tire chain in the RI,
Mass area. I sold them the stock 235's, which had 11,000 miles on them at
the time, for $50 each. I bought 31" BFGoodrich All-Terrain's and had them
slap 'em on. Not only do they look terrific, but they fit fine on the 7"
rims. I have not noticed any problems yet, but it's only been a week.
So to answer your question, any 31" tire should fit on the 7" rims fine. I
checked with Goodyear and BFGoodrich specifically, but it should be true
with all brands. 7" rims are the smallest on which you can install 31"
tires.
I also checked with my dealer about buying the stock 8" rims. $330 EACH!!!!
Holy %^&* ! So much for that option. There is not much out there in the 8"
rim dept. for Dak's. Few wheel companies (that I have found) have much to
choose from with the Dak's bolt circle and back-spacing in an 8" width. The
one's they do have, are, in my opinion, ugly.
So stick with the stock wheels, get the 31's, and have fun!
