Thanks Jim. So I presume that the next shift I feel is it going into fourth
again or the lock up clutch engage first? Also is it normal for the tranny
to decide when it is time to shift back into fourth? Sometimes it shifts
before I am ready for it to shift (back up that is).

Step one- (not really a shift but feels like one) release lock up clutch,
returning to torqe converter drive
Step two- Downshift from 4th to 3rd gear.
