I will help you with the one part that I know about:

Yes, there are K&N filters that fit that air box. Check with
the popular Dodge dealerships on the web (Koller, West Oaks,
Moparts.com) and they'll be able to get you the correct
square K&N for your box.
I'm baffled by the huge loss in performance that you are
seeing by going with the FABM....I hope someone on the
list can shed light on this.
