<< Hmmm... This may or may not be a part of your problem. A burnout
really isn't nescessary for a street tire. Even DOT drag radials only
require about 3 seconds; just enough to start getting some smoke from
them. You don't need to get any smoke off of street tires though; heating
them up usually doesn't do anything. (and might even make 'em slick).
Another issue with the water (even if you back into it) is that it can
get up under your wheelwells and then drip down on the tire. I just spin
mine for maybe a second to get any rocks, dirt, water, etc. off of 'em.
It seemed to help; my launches are a lot harder and I still get a good
bark in 2nd gear, but nowhere near the spin I used to. I don't know
what the condition of your track is, but you might want to try moving right
or left in the lane to try and launch off of concrete instead of molten
rubber. >>
I agree Jon, when I went to Milan last month i was roasting my Viper tires and
just burning them all the way into 3rd (5spd) on the track and it sucked!! I
then only spun em to get the rocks off and I bit a lot harder at the launch,
however I still spun them in 2nd!!
