eric,
The sticker says 3800, but Ive "heard" 4400 is closer, although Id prefer
3800. I weigh around 200 so I guess Ill call it 4100 with me and my wife
installed... It is a CC R/T with a fibergalss tonneau (hevy glass... but it
looks cool).
The 340 in the Cuda has the "761" cam with around .455 lift @ .050, although
with roller tappets you can steepen up the slope of the cam and use a more
radicle grind without the excess "blowdown" of a flat tappet cam. Id say a
.480 roller would be equivalent to the .455 flat (not a scientific
excercise, anyone out there done the math??) The idle of the cuda is sweet!
A buddy of mine recorded it and uses it as startup sounds on his
workstation... It has the hooker super comp headers exiting through a
factory bigblock exhaust with a cross over (non factory believe it or
not..). I put in a "2800 rpm stall" Hughes converter and a low first in
the built 904. It smokes em (one of em at least) off the line way too much
with the open 8.75 and 3.23:1 gears. The lag into second is manageable if
you keep the Rs up. I use a 750 cfm edelbrock carb. It may be a little big
but it seems to work well. I think the crate would be real similar and Id
be able to tell you that exactly except I started my cuda project before the
CA smog laws changed and had to keep a stock type motor in the car to pass
visual. Yeah, I even planned to use the egr for the test. All trash now
thank God, but no crate under the hood. Anyhow, I still think a crate 360
(alright go with the 300 HP if you must) would do a Dak right if you can
get it registered. As for Ferd, You gotta make the call. I own a couple 67
cortina, 90 thunderturd, and they have their good points. I like Mopars.
