I have a similar problem with my V6...but I found it to be the oil. With 20/40
wt the tapping noise comes in when it gets hot. You put factory wt oil in
there (I don't recall off the top of my head whether it was 10-30 or 10-40 wt)
the tapping stops. So I just run the proper oil and I got no problems.
