Hey guys,
Mike is right in a technical sense. long headers are great for all out
racing. They are expensive (mild steel hookers for my cuda were 567.00
coated) they also have some serious drawbacks on the road. They scrape
(remember they were designed for racing. no bumps on the 1/4 mile after the
front wheels hit the ground. Ive had a couple different skid plates
installed in the last 3500 miles. They make quite an interesting racket (I
kinda like it but its not subtle). They are in the way of everything (my
crosslink is routed through a couple of tubes.) AND, performance gains are
not significant over shorty style headers if you are not WOT (IMHO and
others HO). Im still trying to get some more data on the short vs. long
controversy since most mfgs are doing shorty style for the new vehicles. I
consider my long headers Junky due to the massive problems they cause in day
to day street driving, which is what I built my cuda for. Im probably going
to keep them since I paid so much, but theyve already worn through twice...
