I'm not sure what size your radio is, but I just put a CB up on my ceiling.
My Dak is a 95 4x4, 5-speed with the buckets and center console. Because of
the shift levers, I couldn't mount anything to the transmission hump. In
your case you might be able to put the radio body under the dash. I ruled
that out because I couldn't see it. I also considered the front of the
console (I use the space in the front to carry my cell phone and other
assorted stuff) or on the back of the console between the seats (too hard to
turn around to see it). I also thought about stuffing it inside the
console, but I would have had to remove the top or leave it open when using
the radio, and I like the armrest too much.

So I put it up on the ceiling, just behind (or above, depending on the angle
you're looking at it) the center clips for the sun visors. When I got the
headliner off, I found that the metal piece that the clips are mounted to
goes back about another 2 inches. I just drilled right into that for the
mount, and ran the wires up the A pillar. The problem is that the mounting
bracket is a little too wide, and I can't rotate the sun visors to the side
windows when it's mounted. As I only plan on leaving it in when I'm
off-roading, I'm willing to live with it.

Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please feel free to
ask.
Jason
