when we installed the "domes" the Jba length of bolts was ok.
our bolts and locknuts were weary from the number of times we on and
offed.....
we did use shorter bolts (grade 8) with a thick washer on the
top and bottom under the bolt and nut.we tightened to 50 foot
pounds and there was still thread left to tighten more if needed.
An interesting note is that the FSM gives 20Ftlbs as the number for
exhaust pipe to manifold bolts while 25 Ftlbs is the number for
the maniflod studs and nuts.
The 50 foot-pounds maybe an over-kill but after our first attempts at
leak chasing has inspired us to use this setting as our bench mark.
we did use contact cement to glue the nut to washer AKA nascar
lugnut style. We also used rubber bands to hold the flange to the
end of the y-pipe.
My son has become quite an expert and can have the Y-pipe back up
in about 10 minutes.
A cat back system is on the way..i feel from the muffler back is
the worst part of our 92 dak's exhaust....we will see...
