Nope you dont need anything special. You use the key on-off on-off back on
and it will flash at you. You had mentioned you had the Haynes manual I do
to and it gives you a list of the codes and how to pull them in the Emission
Controls section. I think it is section 8 just look for the two page chart
in the Emission section. The Check engine light only says on for certain
things (alot of things for California) the book also tells you which codes
will make your check engine light stay on. Hope you get everything figured
out. It was a major pain in the a$$ when mine wouldnt start sometime
hopefully it will be as simple as mine. Also I think the auto shutdown
relay I mentioned in the previous post controls the voltage to the coil so
if it doesnt trip then you voltage to the coil and now spark but alot of
frustration.
