In the 1998 model year Ram 1500's the DDE option gave you a 318 with a
manual 5 speed, no such option with a 360 engine. If you stepped up to the
3/4 ton (2500)
you could order the DDE option 5.9L (360) and the 5 speed manual tranny. I
haven't seen the options lists for the 1999 Rams yet but I would bet that
the 5 speed
is at minimum available in the 3/4 ton trucks. Check with your Dodge
Dealership for available options.....
