Actually the "SP360" show truck was a lowered 4x4, as it was an '98
model, and there wasn't "no such thing" as a 4x2 Durango in '98.
RaceTruck Trends and Performance West did the bulk of the work, with DJM
kicking in the lowering kit for the 4x4. One of the reasons for not
providing the lowering kit for the 4x4 was that they needed 18" wheels
to get enough clearance in the front axle assemblies, and the 18"ers
proved to be hard to get in sufficient quantities on a reliable basis.
The "production" version uses 17"ers...

nope, heres a clip of the article
"Theres handling to match as chassis mods give the Durango a transfusion
of
sports car blood. Two wheel drive versions get a 2-1/2 inch lowering
treatment via the same springs and shocks as the Dak R/T ...blah blah
blah......... Carroll wants you 4 by guys and gals to get in on the fun
too.
So the S.P. 360 package is available on 4X4 Durangos as well. "Course
you dont
get a lowered suspension so you retain that needed ground clearance for
all
that off road stuff."
See, Dodge and Carroll seem to be thinking of the obvious. 4By4 people
like
to go fast but also like it in the dirt. You cant go off roading in a
Typhoon
now can ya and still go to the track and run high 13's!!
