Mike,

I totally agree that this is against all info I've heard as well. My
understanding is that Benz was interested in CC specifically for it's
design staff and their ability to get new designs to market. CC's
interest in return was an opening for marketing their product in Europe.
Mutually beneficial arrangement, IMO. It would make no sense whatsoever
for DB to come along and gut the very group they seem to be most
interested in.

Now not to say this couldn't get screwed up. Here in Silicon Valley we
see bigger companies buying smaller companies for the same reasons every
day. Sometimes it works. Sometimes the bigger parent company just comes
in and takes a lean and mean outfit that gets product to market and
basically turns it into a bag-o-rocks.

Let's hope this is not the case with Chrysler and Benz.
