I hate to brag but the local Dodge dealer painted my whole truck for free,
the hood and roof were both white, the truck is 92 Sport CC in Colorado
Red. But the reason they did it free is that I was just in and had about
$7000 total in repairs done on an accident, got read ended for the 2nd time
in a year-almost to the day. :( They had the truck for about 2 months,
had a new bed, fuel pump, frame straightened, bumper and more done. But
after the more than 2 months that they had it I got it back and got hit
again 3 days later, this time in the front.

I missed the first posting of this thread, but here is my experience. I
have an '89 Dak with a Twilight Blue metallic/Silver Start metallic combo.
Within the last year, the blue paint on the roof started to flake off and
the hood paint is showing some spider cracks. After seeing that my friends
'92 White Dak was repainted by Chrysler for the same problem (100% paid), I
decided to call Chrysler. (The truck had nearly 200K miles on it at this
time.)
I called the main 800 number and pleaded my case to the rep. He gave me a
file number and said to take it to my dealer (I told him which one I was
going to). When I got to the dealer, the service manager knew my case
already and said that the zone rep told him that they would cover 50% of the
repaint. He did not even want to see my truck. Because of the age and
miles, this would be their final offer. This kind of ticked me off because
my truck is in excellent shape. Anyone would be hard pressed to guess that
this truck had that many miles. If they would give me 50% without seeing
it, then they should give me more once they do see it (right?). Nope, they
did not want to see it.
So, I called the 800 number back and told the rep that I was not happy with
the offer and they did not even look at my truck. He said that he would
send my comments to the zone rep and he would call me back in 5-10 days.
After 10 days went by (without a call), I called the 800 number back.
Apparently, the zone rep replied back to the comment by saying that "This is
a very generous offer given the age and condition of the truck and it is
Chrysler final offer". Condition? They did not even look at the condition!
If they are looking at just at the miles, then why is high mileage a
penalty? Isn't it a plug to Chrysler that my truck HAS that many miles and
looks that good? The 800 rep said that the Zone office has the final call
on this and there is nothing that they could do. I talked to his manager
and he said the same thing. In fact, he said, "You should be happy given
the age and miles on the truck." Needless to say that I was a little pissed
off! So, I told them to put on my record that no one ever looked at my
truck and the zone rep never called me. I also told them to send this
comment back to the Zone rep. As I hung up he said "Oh, by the way, you now
have 30 days from today to get the truck painted."
In the end, the truck is getting painted as we speak. The estimate came to
$425 (my cost $212.50) to strip and paint the hood and roof. Also, they
would respray the top of the bed rails to have a good color match. The
truck is two tone with a center band. So, they can do this a little easier.
The moral of the story is, call Chrysler and get a file number. If they are
willing to pay 50% on a truck they never saw, they must know something is
wrong with their paint. Don't wait!

I'll see if it's possible to get this painted under the warranty..if there
is one, and if it's not out of date. The color of my Dak is dark blue with
a grey color on the bottom...don't know the exact names of the colors.
