I poked around the GM site (oh, shut up ;), and found out that they are
now calling ALL their engines Vortec (including the I-4). Maybe it's got
something to do with their intake technology; sorta like how Chrysler is
now calling their I-4 a Magnum once they started using multiport sequential
injection on it. So the power/torque figures that the article cited are
indeed correct, for the LF6 engine.
However, I wasn't wrong, as they also offer a L35 engine option, which is
a 190hp Vortec 4.3l V6.
