What do you mean by difference? Well, I'll guess.
Acceleration: Faster
Topend: Slower (I did 120 with the 3.55s. Truck doesn't seem to like going past
90 now)
Noise: More, though I haven't determined if this is b/c of gears, or something
else like misaligned driveshafts or missing balance wieghts. I get a harmonic
vibration/hum noise at 75+.
Hill climbing: Much, much Better. I can now imagine towing and hauling on long
grades, where as before I was dreading the constant shifting that would be
required. I recently hauled 800+ pounds of motorcycles to Thunderhill raceway,
and the truck did great and the grades on 80. More real-life test to be had this
winter with snowboard trips to Tahoe.
Gas mileage: Worse, that's why I'm looking at exhaust, intake, ignition, and
performance chip upgrades. Also, a shell should help a bit, though the winch
will probably offset that.
Driveability: Well, highway speeds are slower, which is good, but sometimes I
get impatient. Like I said, this vibration thing needs to be looked at, and once
solved, maybe I'll go 70+ again. For now, it's 65, which is better for gas
mileage.
Hope that helps. If your looking for streetability, probably best to stick with
3.55s. For towing, hauling and offroading, the 3.92s are going to be your
friend.
