<<If there were a leak, i.e. hole in rad or something, wouldn't it leak pretty
consistently, as in, after parking for a few days, there would be a puddle>>

Precisely my point for the pressure test... The lack of a leak at rest (parked)
makes me think it's pressure related (too high). A pressure tester simply reads
the pressure in the system... It doesn't add any.

<<or if only leaking under pressure or temp, wouldn't a hole show up over my
drive btw St.Louis and NC, 710 miles with one stop, and consistently over 80?>>

I dunno... Like I said, there really aint that much to our cooling systems.
That's what makes your problem so perplexing!!!! I gotta' tell you if it isn't
the water pump, I really suspect the T-Stat install. It's the only thing that's
been changed recently, no?!.... Did you measure how much fluid you put back in
after the install, BTW????!!!!

T.

P.S. Are you *absolutely* sure you didn't have a carnage bolt in your pocket
when this happened... :-)
