I have scratches like that on my mirrors too even though terry cloth is
used.

Joel

Anyone have the following troubles with the outside mirrors:

The mirror surface seems to be made of a soft plastic, which
gets microsopic surface scratches. These are not noticable untill a low
sun angle (sunrise / sunset) from the rear of the truck. Then the
mirror glints with a million points of light, makeing it useless.
The mirrors have always been washed with mild car wash soap, and
dried with a towel, or with de-ionised water for a spot free
apperance. Even with such care, the surface is ruined forever,
there is no polish process that can repair the damage, replacement
is needed, with a GLASS mirror.
The hazzard is while towing, with a camper shell, there is no rear
or side vision at the indicated times.
This is caused by useing a lightweight, soft plastic mirror,
instead of glass, which could be matained with normal care.
