Many Thoughts-Possibly Long but worth it

DML List;

My first comment is on Transmissions. No singular type of trans is
"THE BEST". There is a time and place for a manual, and for an auto. I, for
one, can no longer drive manuals due to my left knee. If that were the only
type available I would probably have to stop driving. The reason many
manufacturers went away from manuals is that not too many people know how to
drive using a clutch. It's not really the trans that was the problem, but
burned clutches. Each to his/her own.

My second comment is on wheels for the 6 lug bolt pattern. A lot of
you seem to get really upset that there aren't hundreds of wheels sitting on
the shelf with our bolt pattern. A high number of the after market wheels
can be ORDERED with ANY (4,5,6,8,10) bolt pattern. They won't be the same
price as a GM pattern wheel, but you CAN order them. You will also have to
wait a while for them to be delivered. So find several you like and ask if
they can be ORDERED with the 6 bolt pattern.

I think we've beat up Jules quite enough. If he was a poor business
person he is suffering for it with lost sales, and our continuous tongue
lashing won't change his situation, or ours, in any way. So, can we drop the
Jules thing please??

Someone asked what a roll pan is. It is a body piece that fits in
the space where you remove the rear bumper from. It covers up the ends of
the frame, and spare tire with the bumper removed.

I have a Jacobs Omni Pak installed on my 96 318. Does it give me
wheel smoking thunderous performance gains??? No. I do feel it has helped
with overall performance enough to be worth the price. IMHO.
Related topic. Tornadoair. Both lists I belong to have concluded
that this is a waste of money.

I have been privileged to have owned a 90 CC 3.9 non Magnum, and a
96 CC 318 Magnum. I prefer the V8 because I'm a speed freak and I like
blowing Caddies of the road going up steep hills. Did I enjoy my V6?? Yes.
Was it adequate for 90% of my needs?? Yes. Would I buy a Magnum V6?? If I
couldn't afford a V8, yes. In terms of gas mileage, I was getting 17-18 all
around with the V6. I'm getting 17-18 all around with the V8. Do I drive
like grandma?? Read again why I prefer the V8.
I want to do some TB work, get a computer, get headers, a Y pipe,
free flow cat, and cat back exhaust. Why?? Because they will help my engine
breath easier. Do I think it will get me down the quarter in 5 seconds?? No,
but it should improve both HP, and mileage. Even if I maintain the present
mileage and gain HP it will be worth it.

Enough list space. I saved it up from four days of digests. And no
carriage bolts anywhere in there.
