Yo, stainless IS a surface treatment. Disrupt it (sanding, grinding
etc.) and you could very well promote rusting.

Why not? I've seen this shaft, and its very nice. Its
1/3 to 1/2 less restrictive than the stock shaft. As far as
why to use stainless, I'll refer you to your own posting of
