RE:do flowed TBs work on a stock motor?

Steve,
I can only speak from recent experimentation (Franks actually): Modifying
the TB on a stock 360 will give you HP gains and driveability improvements
(at least it doesnt hurt driveability). We have seena 30HP gain with a
large TB on a virtually stock 360 Ram. (cat back and intake filter mods
only). I was also doubting prior to the dyno pull, but the HP gain was
there! I have one on my truck and I have seen the ET reduction! It may be
due to Mopars use of a MAP only with no actual airflowrate measurement via a
MAF sensor. A bigger TB would drive the MAP signal closer to atmospheric,
revving the computer into "full steam" to adjust the mixture. BUT, The ram
and R?T360 has better breathing exhaust than the 318 daks and bigger
displacement. While I dont profess to understand this fully, Bob Mankin is
testing a stage one TB (17% addtl flow over stock) and he can feel it so
far! Dyno pulls on the way to get real numbers. The A/F is still looking a
little lean with the stage @ type 700cfm TBs, But again, the HP increase was
there! I love a good mystery, any more ideas?

Subject: DML: Question For Jules,Frank,Bruce,...who ever

Hey Guys,

I spent quite a bit of time modifing ford 302's in the past and have a
question. It is quite useless to change out a mass air flow or TB on a
lightly modified or stock 5.0l and expect any gains. It is only after
changing a minimun of upper and lower intake change that it is a good
idea. How is this different for a 318/360. One of the things that has
kept me from ordering any TB from anyone are lessons that have been
already learned in the Mustang community in reguards to TB's.

Fill Me in Fellas,

Steve
