I know the feeling. Congratulations on the hood. I am currently running
with a C-Tech all fiberglass hood with a single scoop that sits about 6
inches from the curve in the front. The functionality is great, as the
airbox is angled from the throttlebody at a 45 angle and meets the hole in
the bottom of the hood with a rubber seal. Inside it sits a square K&N
filter. The whole setup provided 2 tenths in the quarter for me as well.
Gotta love that cold air induction. Although I have an Indy truck, I had
the hood painted and stripped. I get lotsa attention. Good luck with your
truck.

What Jules is saying seems to make sense. Personally, I like the
hood scoop method. I use an open element air cleaner with a 14x3"
K&N topped off with a 14" K&N X-Stream lid, which is supposed to be
good for 1,000cfm. Nice cold air gets rammed through my hood and
dumped straight down into the TB. Short, cold, and simple.
That might be a problem if you're trying to go for the "sleeper"
look though.
Bill Tierney has a similar setup to mine. He used to have a dual
ram-air system which brought air up from under the air dam, which
gave him 2 tenths over stock, but the hood worked even better.
He tried using both systems together for even more air, but the
hood alone was faster.
Right now, I only run the ram-air at the track, since I haven't made
a permanent enclosure yet, but hooking up the ram-air hood and bypassing
my power steering pump gives me 4 to 5 tenths at the track. (On the
street I use a 14x3" open element air filter with a chrome lid instead
of the X-stream.)
